About openVisavid

Founded to make digital sovereignty a reality.

Our mission: Technology that is not only secure and scalable, but also offers true freedom.

Open source. Enterprise-ready. Made in Germany.

What We Stand For

Transparency instead of blind trust.

Open source means that security claims can be verified, so you don't have to simply trust them blindly.

Data Sovereignty in Europe.

Operations are conducted exclusively in data centers located in the European Union, and data is processed in compliance with the GDPR.

Accessibility as a fundamental principle, not as an add-on.

openVisavid was designed with accessibility in mind from the very beginning—in accordance with BITV and WCAG 2.1.

Safety Put to the Test.

Regular penetration tests conducted by independent external entities, continuous review of the source code.

openVisavid is the enterprise open-source solution for video conferencing—developed for businesses, public administration, and educational institutions in Europe. We believe that secure communication cannot be separated from the openness of its provider: Our source code is publicly available on the openCode platform under the EUPL 1.2 license—transparent and verifiable.

openVisavid builds on Visavid, a video conferencing solution that has been in use since 2020—initially at private schools, professional associations, tax advisors, and government agencies. In 2021, Visavid became the official video conferencing solution for the BayernCloud Schule initiative and has since been deployed at over 6,200 Bavarian schools.

On July 1, 2026, this experience was spun off into an independent company: openVisavid GmbH. The goal was—and remains—to transform a proven solution into an open offering available throughout Europe, with a clear commitment to open source rather than yet another closed platform.
