openVisavid will be present at the 5th Mecklenburg-Vorpommern Procurement Law Day on 24 September 2026 at the Vienna House by Wyndham Sonne Rostock. At 1:30 p.m., Sales Director Daniel Zielke will present his lecture “Procurement of Open Source – Procurement Law 2.0 for Digital Transformation,” in which he will explain why open source is also the right choice for public administrations that want to not only demand but also implement digital sovereignty from a procurement law perspective.

The Mecklenburg-Vorpommern Procurement Law Day is the central platform for the exchange of information on public procurement in the state and is organized by the Mecklenburg-Vorpommern Procurement Advice Center (ABST MV). Lawyers, representatives of procurement agencies, and practitioners from chambers and associations will discuss current developments in procurement law, including the revised EU procurement directives, the opinion of the scientific service of the German Bundestag on the procurement of open source, the evaluation of tenders, and the latest case law of the procurement senate of the Rostock Higher Regional Court. Experts from procurement agencies, chambers, and the business community are expected to attend.

The focus of Daniel Zielke’s lecture will be on how the criteria of vendor independence, open source code, standard interfaces, transparency of the software used, security, and self-hosting capabilities can be legally soundly reflected in a tender.
