openVisavid Launches as Enterprise Open-Source Video Conferencing Solution

Neumarkt/Berlin, July 1, 2026 – Auctores GmbH, the software company headquartered in Neumarkt in der Oberpfalz, announces the founding of openVisavid GmbH. With the launch of this enterprise open-source video conferencing solution, three former OpenTalk experts are setting out to use their expertise to make openVisavid the leading video conferencing solution for businesses, government agencies, and educational institutions in Europe.

“Visavid has already proven its functionality, scalability, and adaptability with numerous customers, for example as part of the Bayern Cloud Schule initiative. To make a concrete contribution to digital sovereignty with our solution, opening up our code and founding openVisavid is the logical next step for us,” says Karl Weigl, founder and CEO of Auctores, the company under which Visavid was developed.

Daniel Hausner and Harald Weimer will serve as managing directors of openVisavid going forward. Daniel Hausner was responsible for the development and commercialization of Visavid within Auctores GmbH and played a key role in the video conferencing solution’s success to date. Harald Weimer has been part of the open-source community for decades and, among other roles, served as managing director of ownCloud from 2017 to 2018.

With Dennis Kalbhen as Director of Technical Sales, Daniel Zielke as Sales Director, and Laura Stieler as Head of Communications, openVisavid is also gaining three proven experts in open-source technologies and their adoption, who previously played a key role in the success of OpenTalk.

openVisavid will be the only video conferencing solution on the market that features native apps, true end-to-end encryption, and a mesh system—and thus dynamic load balancing. openVisavid’s codebase has already been published on the openCode platform under the EUPL 1.2 license.
